Ohio’s own Ulysses S. Grant was President of the 38 United States of America, the Cincinnati Southern Railway began operation, and the Cincinnati Reds finished sixth (and last) in the National League. The year was 1877, and it’s when SFM Insurance wrote its first farm policy in Wilmington, Ohio – demonstrating our commitment to helping neighbors fulfill their dreams with peace of mind.
After over a hundred years of mergers and acquisitions, SFM has been able to offer a wide array of insurance services to a vast pool of clients – still offering farm policies, but also writing commercial solutions to small and large businesses. All the while, the focus on our communities remains the same.
Current CEO Brian Smith joined SFM in 1993, becoming the fourth generation of leadership. His vision of helping more Ohio families and business has become a reality – now with five branches to serve southern and eastern Ohio – providing easy access and personal service.
Commitment to our communities remains strong – with company-wide Fun Days spent serving others, to corporate donations made to organizations throughout our communities, including food banks, sports leagues, and leadership organizations.
SFM is equally committed to our employees – by not only offering training and growth, but by providing a challenging, supportive and rewarding environment. This is demonstrated by many of our employees having over 10 years tenure – with mutual respect and loyalty.
So much has changed in the last 140 years – but our commitment to service and loyalty has remained the same.
